The luge is contested in toboggans down a purpose-built ice track, and is similar to bobsled racing. Competitors make four runs, and there are individual events for men and women. The winner is the competitor with the best aggregate time. The main difference between the luge and bobsled is that the courses are usually more twisting and tortuous.
