Nobody likes being a benchwarmer! http://www.MentalToughnessTrainer.com/

Look I know it is no fun being a benchwarmer, but let me tell you a story...

It's the 1st game of the 2008 season for the New England Patriots of the NFL and their MVP quarterback, Tom Brady gets injured.

Famous benchwarmer, Matt Cassell is put in the game even though he has never even started one game during the 4 years of being a backup!

During those years, he played a total of only 4 quarters in 65 games, only being put in when the game didn't matter.

Well if you missed the game, they ended up winning that game and starts the rest of the season.  He went on to lead the Patriots to an 11-5 record only 3 months after sportswriters predict that he would be cut from the team!

He left the Patriots to go play for the Chiefs and there he was named to the 2010 Pro Bowl.

Now I bet you expected Cassell to have at least started during his college years, but his story is even more incredible.

You see, Cassell, was also a backup quarterback all through college! He never started a game his entire college career and didn't start a game in the NFL for 4 years after that!

There are many stories of famous athletes who were benchwarmers for quite some time, before they got their chance and all of them had one thing in common...they didn't give up!

It's also a fact of team sports that there are always going to be more players than can play at any given time.  Backups are necessary!

Pro basketball is one of the few sports that officially recognizes the best player coming off the bench with it's yearly 6th  man award.

In recent years, Lamar Odom of the NBA LA Lakers has been given a lot of credit for the Lakers back-to-back championships coming off the bench.

Quarterback Steve Young sat the bench for 4 years, before he got his chance and now he is in the Hall of Fame.

The list is endless... they all had one thing in common....

THEY DID NOT GIVE UP!

Go to the next video to learn what to do if you are a benchwarmer.
